These updates were approved by state lawmakers during the 2023 regular legislative session and special sessions. Let’s explore some of the significant changes that Floridians can expect in January. One prominent change is the expansion of the “move over” law, which requires drivers to switch lanes away from stopped vehicles such as police cars, ambulances, and utility trucks. Under a comprehensive transportation bill (HB 425) passed during the regular session, motorists will now need to provide space when disabled vehicles are stopped along roads with visible individuals or warning lights on.
